The new Act on IMO
The new legal bill for IMO was passed as law at Alþingi, the Icelandic national parliament, last week.
A new institute will be created by merging IMO and the hydrology unit of the National Energy Authority. The merger will be effective from 1st January 2009.
The well known name of the Icelandic Meteorological Office, IMO, will be retained.
