Weekly Overview, 20 - 26. March, 2023
Over 470 earthquakes were detected last week by IMO‘s SIL seismic network, which is more than in the week before when over 360 earthquakes were detected. The largest earthquake was a M2.8 in Mýrdalsjökull on the 22nd of March. The seismicity in Mýrdalsjökull has increased since week 11 but is similar to the activity in week 10. A small seismic swarm began about 1.5 km north of Hlíðarvatn on Reykjanes peninsula on the 23rd of March, a total of 130 earthquakes were detected.
